Dr. Daniel Perl, Director of the CNRM Brain Tissue Repository, was recently selected as the winner of the 2019 James J. Leonard Award for Excellence in Clinical Research for the paper entitled, “Characterization of interface astroglial scarring in the human brain after blast exposure: a post-mortem case series” (Lancet Neurol. 15:944-953, 2016)." This award recognizes USU faculty members and AFRRI scientists who, in the estimation of their peers, have made the most significant published scientific contribution to translational/clinical research during the past three years. Dr. Perl was selected from a very competitive slate of nominees and his award will be presented at the Award Symposium to be held later this year.
